Executive Director Bismarck Gymnastics Academy
Position Overview
Responsible for program development, business development, strategy, culture, and acquisition of financial support of BGA along with reporting to and collaborating with BGA’s Board of Directors.
Key Responsibilities
- Report to the BGA board, prepare and deliver monthly progress reports, and collaborate to fulfill BGA’s mission and vision.
- Responsible for operational success of BGA with the creation of a proposed annual budget; monthly review of financial statements to ensure they accurately reflect the financial condition of the organization in collaboration with the board treasurer and contracted accounting firm; and advise on actual versus budgeted financial performance.
- Maximize operational efficiency to allow program to serve its mission. This includes monitoring BGA technology for efficient and easy online registration/payments, evaluating scheduling to maximize use of BGA’s physical space, contributing to capital purchase discussions about equipment needs, and analyzing layout of facilities for maximum utilization.
- Lead a team of direct reports to include program coordinators, coaches, administrative, and operations staff.
- Lead recruitment when applicable
- Lead annual evaluation process including setting annual performance goals/reviews and proposing compensation changes
- Interact with all BGA staff and coaches, keeping them engaged and excited about the culture and purpose of BGA.
- Represent the mission and values of BGA in discussions/meetings with gymnasts, parents, business partners and community members.
- Contribute to the design and execution of capital projects that allow BGA programming to expand beyond its current facility.
- Oversee the development and implementation of ticket sales and promotional strategies for special events
- Oversee the development and implementation of all fundraising activities and sponsorship commitments throughout the academy
- In collaboration with the administrative staff, maintain BGA website and create BGA sanctioned social media updates
- Maintain signature authority for financial transactions alongside the Board President and Treasurer.
- Responsible for strategic planning to ensure that BGA is prepared for future growth and opportunities.
- Responsible for the enhancement of the image of BGA by being active and visible in the community.
- Responsible for approval of contracts for services, agreements and other instruments made and entered into on behalf of the organization in collaboration with the administrative staff.
- Work effectively with parents and staff to develop and maintain parents’ confidence in the staff and program, including collecting information and preparing reports and correspondence as needed
- Serve as the primary spokesperson of BGA to the organization’s members, the media, and the public.
- Establish employment and administrative policy and procedures for all functions and for the day-to-day operation of the nonprofit in collaboration with core staff.
- Support and fully participate in the culture of the organization
- Identify and provide training and workshops for staff and coaches to increase knowledge around coaching techniques, rules, safety, and other types of professional development.
- Oversee maintenance, preventative maintenance, safety, and repair needs of physical spaces utilized by BGA.
- Oversee the health and safety of all members while participating in the programming of BGA.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Sport Management, Business, or similar field or combination of education and work experience that would similarly prepare an individual.
- Three years of successful facilities/program management or five years successful management in an unrelated setting.
- Working knowledge of business financial reports including balance sheet and profit & loss statements.
- Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively among parents, gymnasts, staff, board members and community stakeholders.
- Basic knowledge of gymnastics program offerings and how a gym typically operates required. High level of gymnastics expertise preferred, but not required.

Compensation
- Starting at $70,000/year
